ABOUT FANFAN

Fanfan was born in Port Au Prince Haiti. Known as ‘one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere’, (World Health Org) Fanfan did not have an easy upbringing. There were many times he was without food, shoes, and even a time he had to brush his teeth with soap because he didn’t have toothpaste. He never knew his father and he lost his mother when he was 20. She was his sole provider and best friend. This was a devastating loss for him.

In 2007 Fanfan had a divine encounter with a friend named Jeff who gave him a job as a translator for his Christian organization, based on their mutual love of talking about Jesus and the Bible. (at the time, Fanfan was sitting outside a hotel making bracelets to sell to support himself). Fanfan quickly became a team leader for American teams coming to serve in Haiti. He met so many friends and built so many relationships by encouraging the people, loving them, and (forcing) them to sing on their taptap trips around Port Au Prince.

Then in 2010, he lived through the 7.5 earthquake that leveled Port Au Prince. He watched friends and acquaintances be buried under the rubble. A country that was already in deep need was now devastated. He continued serving as a team leader and

translator (self-learning English by carrying a dictionary everywhere he went!), and in 2011 met his now wife Julie who was sent to Haiti to film a missions trip. They had an immediate connection and God made it very clear that they were each other’s soul mates. They were married in 2012 and just three months after the wedding, found out they were pregnant.

They soon got the diagnosis of their son and life changed. After living in Haiti for 32 years, he was now thrust into American hospital life, talking with surgeons, doctors and nurses to learn how to best care for his son and also be the spiritual leader for his new wife. God never let go of him. In the dark dark moments of not only being in a foreign country with a brand new wife, he was now spending nights in a hospital watching his son go through the unimaginable.

In 2016 Fanfan and Julie started their organization “The Vine Haiti” to help the suffering people of Haiti and bring them help and hope.

Throughout his life, Fanfan will stand and say “God you are good.” He will tell you that his relationship with Jesus is stronger than it’s ever been and he wants to encourage everyone to trust that Jesus will always fight for you and that He loves you.

I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm. Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar!
